Above are a few more photos from the Good Housekeeping Cake Book. How could anyone pass up something so cool for 10 cents. Especially when it cost 39 cents in 1958! A few of the recipes actually sound pretty good. Orange Chiffon Cake, for example, sounds mouth-watering. I think I’ll have to try this homemade frosting on chocolate cupcakes someday:
” Quick Caramel Frosting
-1/2 Cup butter or margarine
-1 Cup brown sugar, packed
-1/4 Cup milk
-1 3/4 to 2 cups sifted confectioner’s sugar
Melt butter in saucepan; add brown sugar; boil over low heat 2 min., stirring constantly. Add milk; continue stirring until mixture comes to a boil. Remove from heat; cool. Add confectioner’s sugar, beating well after each addition, until of spreading consistency.”
Sounds delish, no?
